Despite a rough start to the U.S.-Iran talks, investor hopes for peace in the Middle East and the resumption of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz remain undiminished.

Over the weekend, both sides exchanged strong warnings as talks began in Switzerland. On Saturday, Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz due to escalating tensions in Lebanon, while U.S. President Donald Trump issued a warning over Iran’s support for Hezbollah, heightening the tense atmosphere at the negotiating table.

However, by Monday morning, mediators indicated that communication channels had been established between the U.S. and Iran, with technical-level negotiations set to continue for the remainder of the week.

As a result, international oil prices continued to decline on Monday, with the Brent crude August contract falling more than 2% to $78.5 per barrel.

Following the hawkish Federal Reserve meeting last week, market expectations for an interest rate hike have been brought forward to as early as October of this year. Investors are currently highly focused on any inflation data that might signal an imminent resumption of rate hikes by the Fed.

Tom Lee, head of research at Fundstrat Global Advisors, pointed out that despite several potential catalysts ahead, such as the establishment of an internal Fed working group and the impact of the Strait of Hormuz closure on supply chains, the overall environment remains tilted toward the positive.

He said: “We still believe that later this year, market conditions will undergo a sudden shift that will feel very much like a bear market, but we do not want to declare that the market has peaked at this point. I think the current environment remains favorable for equities.”

In pre-market trading, Micron rose more than 4%, with the company set to report quarterly earnings after the close on Wednesday; SpaceX fell nearly 4%, potentially marking a third consecutive day of declines.

[Samsung Electronics Pyeongtaek P5 Fab 2 Construction Moved Up by About Six Months, Groundbreaking Planned for July]

It has been reported that several new pile drivers have been deployed at the Samsung Electronics Pyeongtaek P5 Fab 2 site, indicating that substantive construction is about to begin, with a high likelihood of breaking ground around next month. As the wave of AI infrastructure investment drives a surge in memory chip orders, Samsung has moved up its capital investment timeline by approximately six months compared to the original plan.
P5 Fab 2 is the sixth factory to be built within Samsung Electronics’ Pyeongtaek campus and the final semiconductor production line at the site. Based on 300mm wafers, its estimated monthly production capacity is expected to reach 200,000 to 300,000 wafers, with the goal of achieving initial production in 2029.

[Kuo: Google Develops TPU v9 Revised Chip, MediaTek Secures Additional Orders]

On June 22, renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s latest industry survey indicated that Google will develop an upgraded v9 chip, codenamed possibly Triggerfish, based on the TPU v9/Humufish, and MediaTek will exclusively secure this higher-priced additional order. With the Humufish lifecycle shipment estimate of 4 to 5 million units unchanged, Google has added an additional 1 to 2 million Triggerfish orders, which are expected to begin production at the end of 2027 and ramp up in 2028. As the unit price of Triggerfish is approximately 30% higher than that of Humufish, it is expected to become a new growth driver for MediaTek’s operational momentum in 2028.

[NVIDIA Rubin Servers Achieve 100% Liquid Cooling]

NVIDIA announced on June 21 local time that its latest generation Rubin AI infrastructure has achieved 100% liquid cooling across the entire system—chips and network components all utilize a closed-loop liquid cooling circulation, completely eliminating fans. This is also one of the core technologies in NVIDIA’s DSX AI factory reference design.

The key breakthrough lies in raising the coolant inlet temperature to 45 degrees Celsius (higher than the temperature of a typical hot bath), which instead delivers higher energy efficiency. Industry estimates show that every 1-degree Celsius increase in coolant temperature can save approximately 4% of cooling energy consumption. A 50-megawatt hyperscale data center could thus save over $4 million annually in cooling-related energy and water costs. In climates with suitable conditions, this architecture can completely eliminate chillers, relying on outdoor dry coolers for heat dissipation, reducing annual water usage from approximately 2.6 million gallons per megawatt under traditional cooling tower modes to near zero.
